2° titres de la journée, toujours réalisé avec mon ami DJ Dub (Christophe Deblire)… Cette fois nous nous attaquions à un megamix à la « Unity Mixers » sur bases d’une série de samples réalisés hors de l’excellentissime House Party II qu’il avait apporter, ainsi qu’un ou l’autre du House Party VIII. On retrouve donc des titres Rave tels que :

Channel X – Rave Alarm, R.T.F.R. – Extrasyn, No Deaper – Meaning, Rave Buster – Mitrax, Overtime – The time has come, Frantic Explosion  – Boom Bang, Chosen Few – Tranceparent et High Energy – The Box.

Ceci dit, ce titre aurait mieux fait de s’apeller Rave Sample… car il n’a pas grand chose de « Groove »… mais je me suis souvent meler les pinceaux dans les styles musicaux… Il n’y aura pas de part 2 !

Second titles from the day, still realised with my friend DJ Dub. That time we’ve try to do a megamix like the Unity Mixers using some samples i’ve made out of the excellent compilation House Party II and VIII that my friend have catch.

Well i should name it Rave Sample, cause it’s absolutly not Groove music, but i often mix style music in my mind… There were no part 2 !

Il faut bien avouer que le titre n’est pas terrible… En réalité, mon ami DJ Dub (Christophe Deblire) avait ce jour là amené quelques CD de Rave Music, où j’avais pu retrouver quelques morceaux du groupe belge R.T.Z. que j’aimais assez bien, et que je n’avais pu trouvé jusqu’alors.

De l’époque de L.A. Style – James brown is dead, le thème musicale fait clairement pensé à quelques musiques espagnols…

Je m’étais donc lancer dans un genre de morceau megamix en utilisant les sons de ces morceaux.

Je profitais également à l’époque de l’occasion pour annoncer que le 3° épisode de Badman réalisé par PPP Team Software pourrait peut-être exploité des musiques personnalisées…

I should admin, the song title was not kwel. In fact, my friend DJ Dub came at home with some Rave music CD where i could find track from the beglian formation R.T.Z. that I realy like, but never found.

That sounds as L.A. Style – James Brown is dead, with a spannish like theme…

So i’ve tryed some like of Megamix…

Dance Computer 3Prolongement du 1° Digi Mix, je me relançais donc dans un nouveau projet similaire, partant du Electrosound de The Unity Mixers, C Countdown de Confetti’s, et surtout du vinyl Dance Computer 3, contenant nottament Hoho de Plaza et Vous êtes fou de Benny B… bref de quoi faire pas mal de sampling. Ne cherchez pas Digi Mix 2… il s’agit bien du 2° projet, mais intitulé Digi Mix 3, car reprennant beaucoup de son du Dance Computer 3.

Few days after the Digi Mix 1, I launched a similar project starting from the Electrosound (The Unity Mixers), C. Countdown (Confetti’s) and espcially my LP of the Dance Computer 3 including Hoho (Plaza) and Vous êtes fou (Benny B)… so many things to sample. Don’t search after a Digi Mix 2, that was the second project… called 3 cause i used many sounds from the Dance Computer 3.

BB JeromeA l’époque j’avais clairement la fièvre du sampling. Et pour cause, Valyum (Romuald Dispa), m’avait bien fait comprendre qu’être un lammer, c’est mal ! Un lammer ? un petit novice en informatique, dans mon cas en sound-tracking, qui s’approprie à son nom le travail d’autrui. Et déjà reprendre les samples d’un autre tracker… ce n’est pas très bien. Du coup, dans la mesure du possible, j’essayais de faire moi même mes propres samples. Ici j’avais donc repris un veille K7 de mix réalisée à l’époque où je m’appellais Mee-Kanik pour récupérer quelques sons hors de titres de Benny B, BB Jerome & the Bang Gang, Black Box et The Underground… le tout dans un megamix,… plutot mauvais.

At that time, i often used time to do sampling. That’s why Valyum let me understand that being a lammer is a realy bad thing ! A lammer ? It means a newbie in computer world that said « it’s mine », in case it’s not realy his work… And i the soundtracker’s world, using another musicians sample could be a problem. So i took back an old audio tape from mixes i made long time ago with my friend DJ Re-E (Vivien Vanoirbeek) in the time we called me Mee Kanik. There i sampled sounds from Benny B, BB Jerome & the Bang Gang, Black Box, The underground… in a avergage digital megamix.

Projet Grungee sous Game MakerDans la lignée direct de Vega come to Earth, je m’attaque dès le lendemain, de retour à la maison à un autre module développant différent style. C’était aussi l’occasion de féliciter mon frangin Pype qui avait bien bossé lui aussi pendant les vacances, poussant au plus loin notre Game Maker MS-DOS… Finalisant alors la Sky Castle Zone de Badman II, petit frère nous a créer une gestion de Boss extraordinaire !!

Lors d’une petite visite de notre 3° compère chez PPP Team Software, quelques idées avait également fusée concernant un projet de jeu : Grungee, en 2D ou en 3D… voir un Grungee Fighting…

The next day, i still trying to work on the kind of musical module as Vega Come to Earth. Well, back at home, it was the opportunity to proud my brother Pype for his excellent work on the Sky Castle Zone of the game Badman II that he realised with Pierrick on the MS-DOS Game Maker. During that holiday, they also developped some ideas about a new game project called : Grungee.

Bon rien de bien extraordinaire je le crains. Je m’étais achetais une compilation du nom de Interactive Dance, signée Fun Radio. Pas vraiment excellente, juste quelques samples un peu « Sex » qui en ont découlés le titre du morceau. Les samples sont tirés de Captain Holywood Project, Technotronic, Moratto, Barraba et Frida.

Petite dédicace à V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek), Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi), Ludo (Ludovic Remacle), Pierrick Hansen, Deedee (Ferdinand Christiaens).

Not an extraordinary track, i’ve just bought a new CD compilation called Interactive Dance from Fun Radio. But songs was not so good and then i’ve sampled some sounds from Captain Hollywood Project, Technotronic, Moratto, Barraba and some hot voice from Frida…

t99-anasthasiaBon, je dois bien admettre que le 2° CD de la compilation Génération Dance proposait moins de « samples » intéressant, cette « face B » manque donc cruellement d’intéret !

Samples tirés de : Lucky Losers – She loves me, Dineka – You make me free Olimpia – Take me away, Data Drama – The rain, Johanna – Freak It, T99 – Anasthasia.

I should admit that the second CD of that Génération Dance Compilation don’t have a lot of intersting elements, so that what just a poor B Face without no interest..

L.A. Style - James Brown is DeadAllé hop, les vacances ne sont pas encore finie, je m’applique donc à profiter un maximum encore de tous mes achats de CDs bon marché, pour agrandir mon stock de samples. Voici donc 2 modules « megamix » issus de la compilation Génértion Dance de 1991.

On y retrouve les titres suivants : Pleasure Games – Le seigneur des ténèbres, L.A. Style – James Brown is dead, T. Birds – Birds dance, Modular Expans – Cube, PWM – Are your ready to move, Digital Boy – Okay ! All right, Phenomenia – Who is Elvis, Chimo Bayo ) Asi me gusta mi, 2 Horns – Réveil trompette, 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor – Turn da music up.

So, holiday were not over, then i continue to use my time to create music with the low cost CDs i’ve bought. Here is 2 megamix soundtrack from the old 91’s compilation Génération Dance.

Turn up the bass 21Bon, je ne vais pas vous faire un roman pour ce megamix, il s’agit simplement d’un projet tout à fait similaire que le vol. 22 réalisé quelques heures plus tard avec le CD vol. 21 de ma nouvelle compilation Turn up the Bass. Ce megamix ci est un peu plus intéressant que le premier, mais cela reste un megamix de vieux morceaux techno des années 1992.

On y retrouve : The cover girls – Wishing on a star, Sequencial – Big Boom, Berkie Bell – I’ll never know, Gat Decor – Passion, Bass Bumper – The music’s got me, The brand new heavies – Stay this way, Chestnut – Pot of gold, Studio X – Los king del man, Phenomenia – String of love, Napoleon – Fortuna, Charly Lownoise – Speed City.

I will not write here a long story for this megamix, as it is just the next project as the one called number 22 finished few hours later. Anyway this one is more intersting.

You could find sounds of : The Cover Girls, Sequencial, Berkie Bell, Gat Decor, Bass Bumper, The Brand new Havies, Chesnut, Studio X, Phenomenia, Napoleon and Charly Lownoise.

111. Turn up the bass vol. 22 – the megamix

Turn up the Bass 22L’année 1995 touchait clairement à sa fin, et dans un dernière élan je mettais à la tâche, un peu le réveillon familliale à réaliser un mégamix de mes 2 CDs dernièrement acheté. C’est le Turn up The Bass 22 qui passa le premier dans Fast Tracker II afin de récupérer les premiers samples. Pensez donc, ce n’était pas aussi simple que maintenant, il n’y avait pas de fichier MP3, et je ne pouvais pas non plus importer un morceau complet en .WAV sur mon ordinateur. Mon disque dur de l’époque était un 40mo ce qui n’était déjà pas mal pour l’époque.

Bref, il me fallait repéré sur ma chaine Hi-Fi Sanyo l’endroit que je voulais sampler, reculer un peu en arrière, brancher alors un cable dans la sortie casque de ma chaine HiFi vers l’entre audio de la carte son, et enregistrer à l’aveugle quelques secondes… Puis recouper dans Fast Tracker II ce que je voulais garder.

Dans ce megamix j’utilisais donc des sons de : Lil’ Louis – Club lonely, P. Fernandez – Kickin the beat, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam – Let beat hit them, Ultra Nate – A deeper love, Jam & Spoon – Stella – Precious X Project – Dukkha.

Year 1995 was close to be finished and so, i try to realised 2 megamix before the familly dinner. I choose the vol. 22 of my both Turn up up the Bass first. I should explain you how i worked at that time to prepare the sounds of my megamix on Fast Tracker II.

At that time, we don’t have MP3 files, nor the possibility to import the song in a .WAV file on my computer, as my hard drive only have 40mo, that was not so bad for that time.

So i should prepare the timing of the sample i need to record from my Sanyo CD player and then go few secondes reward. Then plug a cable on the headphone output and then also in the audio input of my sound card. Then i should blindly record few seconds and then crop it with Fast Tracker II.

In this mix i use sounds from Lil’ Louis, P. Fernandez, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Ultra Nate, Jam & Spoon and Precious X Project.
