Ah voilà que je pouvais ici déchainer la puissance de Fast Tracker II grâce à mon nouveau Pentium 120 en gonflant de samples, près de 3mo et de nombreux patterns afin de réalisé le mégamix ultime comprenant un nombre impressionnant de titres des années 90 :

Oh non, Michel Daerden est loin d’être la première personnalité à recevoir mes faveurs pour être mis en musique… A l’époque où résonnait encore dans ma tête le Qui m’a enlevé de VDB et surtout le « On se calme » de Christophe Dechavane (un morceau des Baseline Boys et du Dr Smiley), alors que je n’avais qu’un bon 14 ans, j’attendais avec impatience les petites réflexions marrantes de mon professeur de français Paul Coulonval lors de notre contrôle de conjugaison hebdomadaire !
Je suis sur que de nombreux anciens de l’Air Pur de Seraing se souviennent de ses phrases cultes : Une petite pp, délicatement féminine, bien sur !…
A l’origine, en 1992, c’est mon camarade Luigi Sacco qui avait osé prendre le risque de cacher sous son banc l’enregistreur à K7 et le micro que je lui avais pretté, discrètement emprunté à mon paternel. j’avais alors mixé d’abord mes voix sur K7 avant d’ensuite placer cela sur un morceau joué sur mon petit synthé Casio. avec un petit PC Rap interpreté de ma voix fluette de jeune adolescent.
4 ans plus tard, une visite chez Luigi étant prévue, j’avais retrouvé tout cela pour le mettre en musique de manière plus structurée avec mon scream tracker… Coté son, on retrouve quelques instruments samples de Ice Mc et The Bass Bumper… ainsi qu’une mélodie dans la lignée 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor – Dream
Il est claire que la qualité des voix n’est pas terrible, seuls ceux dont le souvenir est bien resté ancré parviendront à comprendre tout cela…
Michel Daerden is not the first personality that receive a personnal remix. At that time i still have in my mind « Qui m’a enlevé » from VDB and the « On se calme » from Baseline Boys and Dr Smiley. So i was just 14 years old and i weekly harldy waiting the funny words of my french teachers Paul Coulonval.
I’m sure that a lot of old student from the Air Put remember that culte senteces : Une petite pépé, délicatement féminine,… bien sur!
In 1992, my schoolfriend Luigi Sacco have hidden a tape recorded and a microphone that i borrowed to him during a lesson. Then i mix it on my double deck and add a synthe arrangement with my small casio. 4 years later, i should see Luigi and then i found back that song, and decided to rework it in a Dance song with my Scream Tracker… with some instruments sampled from Ice Mc and Bass Bumper… and a melody inspirated from 2 Borthers on the 4th Floor – Dream.
En 1994, l’Euro Dance Music prend clairement de l’ampleur et 2 Unlimited n’est plus seul à représenter ce style de musique, ils sont rejoints par des groupes tel que 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, Twenty 4 Seven, Ice Mc, Culture Beat ou encore… MAXX. Cette formation Allemande va lancer un nouveau tube, relayant le Mr Vain de Culture Beat dans les armoires, il s’agit de Get A Way.
De mon coté, j’ai encore bien du mal à pouvoir proposer des remixs de musiques poussé, car le petit processeur de mon ordinateur, cadencé à 40mhz et surtout le peu de mémoire embarquées — 1mo — ne permet pas vraiment de pousser plus loin. C’est que pour mettre un morceau de musique sur ordinateur, à l’époque, on ne fait pas ripping MP3 !! Sur ma machine, je n’ai accès qu’à du .VOC en 22.000 hertz, et quelques secondes au plus. Me vient alors l’idée de digitaliser des loops que je ferais tourner au besoin en boucle pour tenter de recréer un morceau de 3 minutes, en travaillant sur la structure. C’est de ce concept que part le projet de ce Get A way, au départ du Maxi CD de mon ami Vivien Vanoirbeek.
Pour la petite histoire, si ce premier titre de MAXX fut un tube, la suite fit plutôt un bide. Le titre No more était trop proche du premier, et au fond déjà très proche de Mr Vain et I Can’t stand it, n’avait déjà plus grand chose à voir. Les autres singles sont d’ailleurs pour moi totalement inconnus. Le producteur de MAXX a par la suite produit le groupe Real Mc Coy. Boris Kohler, le chanteur – rappeur avait par contre au préalable participé au projet Snow – Informer !
In 1994, the Euro-Dance music began to invade all the charts not only with 2 Unlimited but also with new formation as 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, Twenty 4 Seven, Ice Mc, Culture Beat… or MAXX. This new german team launched a new hit better than Culture Beat – Mr Vain, called : Get a Way.
I still would like to realise my own remix, but my small computer with just 40mhz processor and 1mo of memory will not enought for that. As just listening music on it is not easy, as we don’t have CD-Rom player, and the MP3 will not arrived. I’ve just able to record .VOC files on 22khz and only few seconds. So i had the idea to digitalize some loo that i’ll use to rewrite a 3 minutes songs, working on order structure. That was my concept of that Get A Way project.
For the story, if this first song of MAXX was a HIT, the other one will have no succes. No More was too close of the first song… but also from Mr Vain and I Can’t Stand It was too different from the MAXX spirit. About the two other singles , i had never heard it before today, as if the last one « Move your body » let me think to another formation from 96 : The Outhere Brothers. MAXX producer also work for Real Mc Coy and Boris Kohler the singer/rapper also have worked before MAXX project on Snow – Informer.

Aaah, 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, un excellent groupe Dance découvert en 1994 avec nottament le morceau « Dreams » que j’ai eu très vite envie de savoir jouer au synthé, … avec des accord bien classique Am F C G… que l’on ré-utilise souvent dans le genre… Bref, je me suis donc fait, mon petit remix « module »… .Par contre, c’est la première fois que je vois le Clip Vidéo, avec la Doloreal 🙂
Aaaah, the 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, what excellent euro-dance formation i discovered in 1994 with the song « Dreams », that i had quickly learn to play on my synthesizer… with the classic chord Am F C G often re-used in Dance creations. So i had to write my personnal mod remix.
It’s the first time i see the movie clip, funny with GMC Doloreal.

Bien que s’appelant No Limits Remix, ce morceau n’a du titre de 2 Unlimited que les mêmes instruments… En réalité, c’est d’un titre du groupe Def Dames Dope que je me suis inspiré pour la mélodie… titre cependant composé par la même équipe que 2 Unlimited… Ici en Wallonie et France, ce groupe flamand post Spice Girls fut nettement moins connu… Moi j’avais tout de suite accroché dès le premier titre en 1992, et je possède d’ailleurs plusieurs de leur Single !
Une fois de plus, les crédits imaginaire étaient alors : Salut à Allecap (Capella), Mage & Moon (Jam & Spoon), 2 Unlimited, Erasure Games (Pleasure Games), 2 on the 4th (2 Brothers on the 4Th Flower), UCC (Urban Cookies Collective), OG Cul Tune (GO Culture),… Bref, les groupes que j’écoutais à l’époque !
As if this track call No Limits Remix, this song only use the same instrument than the 2 Unlimited’s one… In fact, it’s most a remix of the Def Dames Dope’s song that inspirated me the melody. This song was written by the same compositors than 2 Unlimited. Here in Wallonie and France, this flamish post-Spice Girls band was not so known… I discover it in 1992, and have bought many CD Singles that i still own.
