L’année 1997 avait donc commencé en découvrant les nouvelles capacités et fonctions d’Impulse Tracker, découvert dans un magazine bradé chez GB… Plus de pistes, plus d’effets, des instruments plus réalistes. Dès le mois d’avril j’allais pouvoir graver mon tout premier album CD : Divagation avec l’aide de mon ami Vivien Vanoirbeek. Mes compos étaient alors toujours très orientée Trance/Dream, comme la fin 1996, inspirée par B.B.E., Faithless et Robert Miles.

Petit à petit, j’allais donc pouvoir entrer dans un style de musique que j’affectionne tout particulièrement, la Dance Music chantée et ce motivé par mes amis Tbob (Valentin Boigelot) et Delphine… Tous ces titres se retrouvant alors essentiellement dans l’album Summer Island à la fin de l’été. Un été productif d’ailleurs, durant lequel j’allais tourner le clip de Viens au Soleil dans le studio de Didier Rombauts, avec qui je partirais quelques semaines plus tard faire mes études d’Ingénieur du Son à Louvain-La-Neuve.

Nous créerons là, X-Perimental Association from LLN où je me tenterais à de nouveaux styles et de nouvelles inspirations, mais aussi une utilisation d’un matériel d’un cran supérieur… Tout cela prenant vie début 98 avec l’album Esperenza.

Cette archive contient donc un peu plus de 230 modules composés durant cette année 1997, essentiellement sous le logiciel Impulse Tracker, avec quelques écarts sous Fast Tracker II et Cakewalk Express.

97 year begin with discovering the new function of Impulse Tracker, more tracks, more effects, instrument power ! In april i burn my first CD album « Divagation » with Vivien Vanoirbeek. Those tracks are always oriented to trance/dream song, as in 1996 inspirated from BBE, Faithless and Robert Miles.

Then i switch to vocal dance music, a style of music i really like and motivated by my new « trackers friend » Tbob (Valentin Boigelot) and my girlfriend Delphine. those specific songs then appeared in the second album « Summer Island ».

After a long productive summer, during i recorded the movie clip of Viens Au Soleil with Didier Rombauts and Valentin Boigelot, i’ll move to Louvain La Neuve to follow study of Sound Ingineer.

I’ll go there with Didier, and we create X-Perimental Association from LLN that lead me to experimental music… those song appear in the album « Esperenza ».

Divagation S.E. (2003)Voici un titre un peu plus Techno House travaillé sur base de sons un peu aquatiques issus du super synthé de mon ami Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi)… A leur coté, un sample tiré du CD Single de mon ami Vivien Vanoirbeek de Snow – Informer (1993).

C’est assez marrant car j’ai appelé cela « Titanic Mix », bien avant que le film ne débarque…

Here is a Techno House track written around the aquatic sounds of the kwel synthesizer of my friend Parmy, using sample from the 93’s hit : Snow – Informer.

It was funny to mention that i’ve called it « Titanic Mix » before the movies arrives…

325. Alors regarde « dance track »

patrick bruelPas d’équivoque, je suis loin d’être amateur de Patrick Bruel, mais le titre « Alors Regarde » faisait partie du répertoire de mon groupe de Pop/Rock, un morceau qui tenait à cœur à mon frangin, et qui plaisait également à ma sœur Marie. Alors, feuilletant la farde de partition de Virtual Music, je me suis arrêté ce jour là sur les paroles de « Alors Regarde »… et j’ai eu envie d’adapter le titre en Dance Music…

Au final, l’arrangement Dance, sans le titre n’a rien du morceau de Patrick Bruel, pourtant essayer de chanter dessus : « Alors regarde, regarde un peu, et tu verras …. » ca donne pas si mal !

Well, i am absolutly not a fan of the french singer Patrick Bruel, anyway his song « Alors regarde » was in our musical reportory in our rock band. A song that my sister and brother realy liked.

So that day, i was reading or musical partition and would like to try a dance remix… Finaly my version was far from the original Patrick Bruel song, anyway if you’ll sing « Alors regarde, regarde un peu… » that suite !

Cyborg Jeff vs DJ DIm (Dimitri Laermans-Pierre Martin) Impulse Tracker – Pentium 120 – S3M

Parmi les camarades de classe de mon frangin Pype, Dimitri Laermans (DJ Dim) s’intéressait un peu aux Sound Tracking… nous nous étions échangés quelques titres sur disquettes, et son morceau Atomyk m’avait plutôt plus… De style plus électro-industrial, j’ai eu envie de lui faire un petit remix plus « commercial » à la sauce Cyborg Jeff.

Among my bros school friends, Dimitri Laermans (DJ Dim) was intersted also by Sound Tracking, so we had swapped some songs through floppy disks… and his song Atomyk was intersting. So i decided to remix his industrial track in a more commercial gift !

Divagation (pochette originale)Et bien, voici l’un de mes « premiers tubes qui pettent » !! et présenter sur le concept « Cyborg Jeff & DJ Vanoïd »… dans la mesure ou ce cher DJ Vanoïd (Cédric Vanrutten) organisait alors de temps à autre quelques animations soirée, j’avais essayé de lui composer un tube qu’il pourrait passer en exclusivité !!!

Et justement, le 19 décembre, le titre allait être diffusé lors de la soirée d’anniversaire de François Barré… et bien mettre l’ambiance !! Bon, y avait grillé l’ampli,… mais on s’était vraiment bien amusé… Alors c’est comique à raconter, mais pour l’époque, comment « mixer » un module en soirée… sans avoir de graveur CD… et bien tout simplement en utilisant l’ordinateur comme table de mixage…. sans soucis pour mettre des modules… Ça parait bièsse… mais à l’époque… on avait même pas de fichier MP3 !!

Moon Day fera partie de mon tout premier album CD, Divagation, réalisé en avril 97… D’ailleurs, je reste assez étonné du nombre de personne cherchant après ce titre sur Google… On le retrouve également dans pas mal de vidéo Youtube (ceci expliquant cela)… dû à sa bonne visibilité sur le portail Jamendo.

Un grand coucou d’époque à DJ Dim (Dimitri Laermans), Nicolas Laermans, Philippe Dechaine, JedD (Jean-Denis Magis), Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi), V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek), Deedee (Ferdinant Christiaens), Len Sapp, Raphaël Lazzari, Delphine Magis, Mr Xav (Xavier Strivay), Pascal Deiting, Pierrick Hansen, Romuald Dispa, Steph & Virgi, Tbob (Valentin Boigelot), La Puce (Simon Boigelot), Franco (François Barré), Claire Gilles, Gilloen (Alain Gillon) et Smooty.

So well, here is my first big hit that rocks ! presented under Cyborg Jeff & DJ Vanoïd Concept… Where i write tracks and my friend Cédric Vanrutten, playing the DJ try to spread the songs…

And then at the birthday party of my friend François Barré, that song works ! … And we explode the amplification… Anyway that was fun !

Moon Day would be include in my first CD Album : Divagation released in april 1997… It’s fun to notice that for now, that songs is often searched on Google…. and also used in amateur movie-clip on Youtube… May be cause it received a good visibility on Jamendo’s musical portal !

Mc Piet (Martin) Scream Tracker III – 80386 DX 40 – S3M

Creative Sound Studio (1998)Creative Sound Studio est né, en ce 5 janvier 1996, au bout de long mois d’apprentissage musicale et de mise en place technique, j’ai pu mettre à profit mes vacances de Noël pour me faire mon petit et très modeste « Home Studio » : Une chaine HiFi Sanyo en temps qu’ampli, un brave PC 386, une table de mixage ITE achetée d’occasion 500Fb, sur base de prise DIN, mais me permettant aisément relier tous mes composants, un synthé Yamaha PSR 210, Fast Tracker II en tant que Sampler et Scream Tracker III comme logiciel de MAO.

Tous les espoirs sont lancés pour devenir un grand musicien et devenir connu, j’ai d’ailleurs relancé une nouvelle fournée musicale de disquette par la poste pour tenter d’être diffusé dans le magasine français PC FUN.

Un tout grand merci à tous ceux qui m’ont aidé actuellement : Vivien Vanoirbeek, Pierrick Hansen, Dimitri Laermans, Xavier Vanhoorick, Laurent Mazzapicchi, Sylvain Martin,…

Pour la petite histoire, le module est basé une fois de plus sur le module Technohead4.mod, mais cette fois avec beaucoup plus de réussite.

Creative Sound Studio is born that 5 january 1996, after long month of learning musics and preparing materials, i had the opportunities during the christmas holidays to finalise my modest home studio with : A Sanyo HiFi used as the amplification, a brave PC 80386 a mixing table ITE bought for 10€, with DIN in/out, anyway enough to easely manage all my stuffs, a Yamaha PSR 210 keyboards, Fast Tracker II as sampler and Scream Tracker III as musical software.

All hopes are required now to be a great musician and to be known, i’ve just send a new pack of module by postmail to the french magasine PC Fun.

For the story, this new soundtrack was based on the module Techno Head 4, but this time with some intersting musical elements.

Je vous épargne ce titre là… je croyais à l’époque faire un remix de Dimitri Laermans, qui m’avait d’ailleurs gentillement trouvé le Fast Tracker que j’utilisais alors… mais il y a de forte chance que ce morceau n’était pas de lui…

I do not give you the original song. At this time, i though i remix a Dimitri Laermans song who have friendly find me the Fast Tracker i used. But probably, this is not a song he wrote.
