A quelques jours près, Virtual Jam Session aurait dû trouver sa place dans l’album Eyes Dreams, puisqu’il fut finalisé alors que l’album était en cours de rendu.

Avec Virtual Jam Session, j’approchais un autre genre beaucoup plus jazzy, un défi de taille. Je me souviens qu’à l’époque j’avais été avec mon ami Vivien au festival de Jazz de Liège et que nous avions l’habitude de trainer les vendredis soirs au Piano Bar La Notte dans le Carré de Liège. Ces sorties m’offraient à entendre d’autres sons, une autre manière d’approcher la musique et j’aimais voir les pianistes perdre leurs doigts sur les touches de leur piano.

Hasard, je tombais alors sur un « petit cours de Sound Tracking » dans l’un de mes magasines PC Team où l’on y décortiquait en détail comment Thomas Petersen, connu sous le pseudo de Laxity y construit des titres jazzy. J’essayais alors de reproduire les lignes de codes affichées dans le magasine pour comprendre comment positionner mes doigts sur mon propre synthé et jouer des accords jazzy… les enchainements donnant alors ce titre que je rêvais de jouer dans notre groupe Virtual Music.

Au coté de ces accords magiques, il y a ce jeu de basse complètement dingue… il est plus que probable que l’influence d’Alain Rinallo qui nous accompagnais alors m’avait donné à construire un jeu plus rond qu’à l’habitude. Enfin je m’étais inspiré du ryhtme Fusion de mon Synthé Roland E68.

A few days later, Virtual Jam Session should have found its place in the Eyes Dreams album, since it was finalized while the album was being rendered.

With Virtual Jam Session, I approached another genre much more jazzy, a tall order. I remember that at the time I was with my friend Vivien at the Liège Jazz Festival and that we used to hang out on Friday evenings at the Piano Bar La Notte in the Carré de Liège. These outings offered me to hear other sounds, another way of approaching music and I liked to see pianists lose their fingers on the keys of their piano.

Chance, I then came across a « little Sound Tracking course » in one of my PC Team magazines where we explored in detail how Thomas Petersen, known under the pseudonym Laxity, builds jazzy tracks there. I then tried to reproduce the lines of codes displayed in the magazine to understand how to position my fingers on my own synth and play jazzy chords … the sequences then giving this title that I dreamed of playing in our group Virtual Music.

Alongside these magical chords, there is this completely crazy bass playing … it is more than likely that the influence of Alain Rinallo who accompanied us then had given me to build a game rounder than habit. Finally I was inspired by the Fusion rhythm of my Roland E68 Synth.
