315. Get into it « trance 97 »

Cyborg Jeff (Nikola Fox-Pierre Martin) Impulse Tracker – Pentium 120 – S3M

innerworldsJ’ai hésité longuement à considérer ce remix comme un titre ciblé Cyborg Jeff ou non. A l’origine, il s’agit de l’excellente musique d’un des niveaux du trop méconnu jeu de plate-forme Innerworlds réalisé par Sleepless Software, tournant sous MS-DOS.

J’avais tout d’abord réussi à ressortir le fichier .MOD originale via un logiciel de type « Ripper », comme je l’avais déjà fait pour quelques autres jeux tel que : Halloween Harry ou Mystic Dungeon,… Mais qu’ai-je apporté à la version originale au fond…

Il est claire qu’en 2001, j’ai réalisé une très jolie nouvelle version de ce morceau, mais ici, ma version « Trance 97 » n’apporte que quelques optimisations sonores offertes par la performance d’Impulse Tracker, face un du Fast Tracker 4 pistes… Cependant, ce titre aura une certaines influences et références concernant de futures réalisation, c’est pourquoi j’ai tout de même choisi de le laisser ici, mais restons conscient que la beauté de ce morceau est à attribuer au croate Nikola ‘Juice’ Fox.

Should i target that song as a cyborgjeff’s one or not ? The original sound-tracker version was used in the the MS-DOS game Innerworld realised by Sleepless software. I have first ripped the .MOD original song with a specific software as I had done wich games like : Halloween Harry and Mystic Donjon, but have I enough added things to the original song ?

Sure, in 2001, my new re-arrangement of this song was a plus, but this « Trance 97 » version is so close the original… I’ve just used the power of Impulse Tracker compare the first Fast Tracker and its 4 channels limitation… Anyway that songs was a big reference in future production, so i choose to add it here… but be conscient that all the beauty of the original melodies came from the croatian musician Nikola ‘Juice’ Fox.

Scream Tracker IIIVoilà donc plus de 200 modules Sound Tracker composés en cette année 1996, année de transition entre Mc Piet et Cyborg Jeff ! Essentiellement réalisés avec Scream Tracker III et donc au format .S3M, vous retrouverez néanmoins quelques fichier .MOD, quelques expériences sous Fast Tracker II en .XM et mes tout débuts sur Impulse Tracker.

La qualité de réalisation à bien progressé ! On reste encore proche du style Amiga, mais en construisant ma propre bibliothèque de samples chaques mois, je peux ainsi me démarquer de ce que l’on pouvait entendre à l’époque…

Grands nombres de ces compositions sont inspirées de Robert Miles, B.B.E. et Boris… L’album Planer n’est pas jouer est essentiellement tirées de cette période !

This second year season let you discovered the first production of Cyborg Jeff but also so tracks always under Mc Piet’s nick. Since january to augustus, i was tracking under an 386 DX and my brave Scream Tracker,.. My main style was dream music (BBE, Robert Miles, Boris,..) but i still trying other kind of music : techno, game, ….

Next part of year 1996, my brother Pype bought us an Pentium 120 so i was able to let run Fast Tracker II faster and began to create my personnal samples collections and not just rip from other modules.

And finally in the last days (29 december) i found the incredible Impulse Tracker that really fit to my needs !

The file contain 204 modules in MOD, S3M, XM and IT

Quality of those tracks was improved but still sounds as PC-Module.

Blood War version 2009En cette fin d’année 1996, PPP Team Software était en pleine ébullition, en effet mon frangin Pype était entrain d’envisager la conception d’un Game Maker 2 qui inclurait notamment la gestion de la PPP MOD Routine qui permet de lire des fichiers S3M de 6 pistes… Je continuais donc mon travail de mise en musique avec un nouveau morceau pour notre jeu Blood War dont je vous ai parlé il y a quelques jours, inspiré plus que probablement du jeu Amiga : Alien Breed.

Ce nouveau module, toujours dans un style ChipRock Metal inclus une série de son du jeu que nous avions réalisé, avec la voix de Pierrick Hansen.

End of the year 1996 is a great moment for PPP Team Software, my bros Pype was thinking on a new Game Maker 2 including the PPP MOD routine that let play S3M sound musics, so i continued to write songs for our games, as here again a new song for Blood War our Alien’s Breed clone.

This song is still a some Chip Rock Metal song using some vocal SFX using in our game, recording by Pierrick Hansen.

Cyborg Jeff (Martin) Scream Tracker III – Pentium 120 – S3M

L’autre soir, j’avais au classement Dance sur MTV, à la 8° position un morceau à la sauce « Disco » que je trouvais plutôt mal foutu (– à mon avis, Around the World de Daft Punk –)… Mais bizarrement le retour à la disco s’opère… Du coup, je me suis moi aussi lancé dans le genre en repiochant quelques samples « brass » du module HEAT.MOD du finlandais Antti Mikkonen et des orgues un diso de la bande son de Jazz Jack Rabbit.

Allé, un petit coucou à JedD (Jean-Denis Magis), V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek), Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi), Cédric Vanrutten, Len Sapp, Pascal Deiting, Tbob (Valentin Boigelot), François Barré et tous les autres !

Last night, i had seen on MTV Dance hit, on the 8th position an average disco song. It seems that the disco come back is arriving ! So, i’ve also try to write dance/disco song using brass samples from HEAT.MOD (written by Antti Mikkonen) and some distorted organs from Jazz Jack Rabbit…

Hello JedD, V-Drums, Parmy, Ced, Len, Pascal, Tbob, Franco and all the other !

Mc Piet (Martin) Scream Tracker III – Pentium 120 – MOD

Bon voici probablement un des plus piètres résultats que j’ai composé… et ce dû à un soucis lors de la sauvegarde mon fichier au format .MOD. Conçu via Scream Tracker III, le morceau sonnait alors tout ce qu’il y a de plus juste.. L’idée était de faire un morceau type « cinématique » d’intro d’un jeu… et c’est pourquoi je l’ai ensuite sauvé au format .MOD 4 pistes… c’est alors que les fréquences se sont déréglées… « désaccordant » le morceau déjà pas plus intéressant que cela…

So, here is probably the worst thing you could find here… It was due to a problem i had when i saved it in .MOD. I wrote the song in Scream Tracker III and during i did it, the song sounded right. The concept was writting some introduction music for a video game.. so i decided to save it in Mod 4 Channels format… Then all frequences was changed and then song sounds wrong.

Cyborg Jeff (Martin – Savino – Biondi – Capri) Scream Tracker III – 80386 DX 40 – MOD

PinocchioLes 2 premiers tubes du groupe italien Pin-Occhio ont sacrément bien marché en Europe en 1993. Il existe d’ailleurs de nombreux modules Sound Tracker à leur sujet, essentiellement concernant le titre Tu ta tu ta ta, que j’avais moi même tenté de remixer un an plus tôt. Dans la lignée de 2 autres modules dit « remix », je me lançais ici à faire quelques choses avec l’album de Pin-Occhio que mon ami Vivien Vanoirbeek m’avait également pretté, mélangeant donc les 2 titres les plus connus avec le 3° single Pinocchio Vaï ainsi que Bum Bum et Enjoy the muzik.

Hormis les 2 premiers tubes les deux producteurs italiens Marco Biondi et Nicola Savino n’ont pas vraiment ré-édité l’exploit. Le premier titre Pinocchio était une version techno de la bande son du film « Les Aventures de Pinnochio » composée par Fiorenzo Capri. Si j’ai longtemps pensé que récemment le groupe Pakito avait repris le thème de Tuta tu ta ta dans ce single, c’est que tout deux étaient en réalité une reprise de Living on a video de la formatiation canadienne Trans-X.

Sans aucun lien pourtant, avec le succès de Pinocchio chez nous, une série de compilation dans le même genre débarqueront dans les rayons, à l’effigie de Beep Beep, les Catroons techno melodies, ou le retrouvera Pinnochio, Blanche neige, Vil le coyotte… sur des morceaux techno hardcore !

The two first hits of the italian formation Pin-Occhio have been spotted in the European 93’s market. There’s lot of sound tracker version of those one, especially from the song Tuta tu ta ta, that i’ve also try to remix one year before. In the movement of the 2 others remixs of that 28 july 1996, i was working on a third track mixing the different songs from the album of Pin-occhio, once again borrowed by my friend Vivien.

Except those 2 hits the two italian producer Marco Biondi and Nicola Savino never released such new’s productions. The first song Pinocchio was a techno version of the soundtrack of the movies « The adventure of Pinocchio » written by Fiorenzo Capri and If i had longly thought that Pakito have re-used the theme of Tuta tu ta ta, i was wrong. Those theme came from an eighties songs from Trans-X – Living on a video.

Few times after the success of the single Pinocchio, 2 compilations called Cartoons Techno melodies came from Italia with techno mix of White Snow, Popeye, Heidi, Beep Beep… and the techno version of Pinnochio.

Short dick manUne fois dans le mouvement, j’enchainais alors ce jour là sur un autre morceau tirés des différents CDs samplés du jour… un morceau techno un peu « sex » utilisant des samples de deux CDs de mon ami Vivien Vanoirbeek : 20 Fingers – Short dick man (Babie-Mohr) et Sin with Sebastian – Shut up and sleep with me (Rooth). Ceci dit… le résultat est plutôt moyen !

Well, after remixing 1000 nights and one, i directly work on another track like that, using the samples i’ve just recorded from 2 Cds borrowed by my friend Vivien : 20 Fingers – Short dick man and Sin with Sebastian – Shut up and sleep with me… Anyway once again, an average release.

The Ultimate Seduction - House NationVoici donc une transposition du titre techno de 1992, House Nation, premier single de la formation Néérlandaise The Ultimate Seduction. Le titre n’a rien d’extraordinaire, mais il s’agit d’un des grands tubes techno de l’époque… La transposition au formation .MOD n’était pas trop difficile, de nombreux sons seuls était facile à récupérer du titre original, et je me suis enregistré modestement pour les voix… J’avais également utilisé quelques sons supplémentaires tirés de Moby et Teknohaus.

Ce genre de petit projet me donne l’occasion de pousser un peu plus loin la découverte du groupe The Ultimate Seduction dont je n’ai ensuite plus jamais entendu parlé. Koen Groendveld et Addy Van der Zwan ont pourtant réalisé une série d’autre singles plus hardcore sous ce nom, jusqu’en 2003, dont 2 remixs de ce titre…. dont un titre « The Ultimate Seduction » (1992) assez proche de Pull Over, bien connu également à l’époque… Ce sont également derrière d’autres formations techno, tel que dans 2Hi – Jump a little hi-er (1992), Frantic Explosion – Boom Bang (1993), Infectious – I need your lovin’ (1993) et continuent maintenant depuis 1995 sous le nom de Klubbheads, dont certains titres plus récents m’ont inspirés plus tard…

Here is a rework of the techno track from 1992 : House Nation, first single of the dutch formation The Ultimate Seduction. This title had nothing special, just a techno tube from that year. So .MOD transcription was not hard to do cause it was easy to sample alone instruments in the original track, then i just had to record my personnal voice for vocals. I also added some instrument sampled out of Moby and Teknohauss tracks.

Speaking about that project, let me made search about that formation The Ultimate Sedcution. Koen Groendveldt and Addy Van der Zwan have realised some other tracks under that name during ten years including two remix of House Nation, and espcially a song called « the ultimate seduction » in 1992 close to another hit techno song : Pull Over. They also were under other formation as 2Hi – Jump a little hi-er (1992), Frantic Explosion – Boom Bang (1993), Infectious – I need your lovin’ (1993) and now working under Klubbheards since 1995.

Parmi les nombreux vieux modules que j’avais à l’époque découvert, se tenait clairement dans la liste des favoris cet excellent titre Dance programmé par Emax du groupe TRSI en 1993 pour la démoparty Spaceball ! Il faut bien admettre que la version .mod en seulement 4 pistes n’avait rien à envier à de nombreux titres dance de l’époque.

Ce jour là, j’ai eu donc envie de lui donner une petite touche personnelle avec une série de passage « piano » dedans pour en faire ma version « Air Play Remix »… bénéficiant des performances un peu plus poussée de mon Scream Tracker III Le titre avait également droit à quelques samples vocaux que j’avais personnellement enregistré…

Petit coucou à Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi), V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek), Pierrick Hansen et Pype (Sylvain Martin)

Among the old soundtracker files i had at that time, there was in my top 10 this excellent song from Emax /TRSI written in 1993 for the Spaceball’93 demoparty. We should admit that this .mod song with onyl 4 channels was also good than many commercial Dance song from that moment.

That july day, i had decided to personnaly re-arranged the song with some piano personnal’s touch in a Air Play remix.. with more tracks that let my Scream Tracker use compare to the original Amiga song… and also some personnal vocal recording…

track 18, Gimme an Amiga (1996-2012)

NonoPetite musique réalisée pour le projet de jeu Nono de PPP Team Software à mis chemin entre Rick Dangerous et Magic Pocket. Musique du premier monde dans la jungle Maya… (oui ca fait vraiment penser à Rick Dangerous ça !)

Le fichier de module utilise des samples d’un fichier sound-tracker bien connu du monde de la demoscene, mais dont je n’ai pas garder trace…

Tiny song written for the game project from PPP Team Software called : Nono. Close to Rick Dangerous and Magic Pocket. That music should be use in the first world in the Maya’s jungle (yep that let you think to Rick Dangerous… realy !)

The samples came from a well known soundtracker module from the demoscene world, anyway, i’ve lost the information about witch one…
