Souvent, j’écoutais mon frère jouer de la guitare classique en duo. Il faisait des concerts avec son cours de solfège. Certains titres étaient complexes, d’autres non… Et j’avais bien envie de composer un duo de guitare qu’il pourrait jouer en concert… Et puis, Anne et Julie me donnaient de l’inspiration… seul soucis, je ne sais jouer de la guitare… Cas cela ne tienne, mon Roland E68 a une série de nuance de guitare nylon qui devraient faire l’affaire…
Often I would listen to my brother playing classical guitar in a duet. He did concerts with his music theory class. Some songs were complex, others were not … And I really wanted to compose a guitar duet that he could play in concert … And then, Anne and Julie gave me inspiration … alone worries, I do not know how to play the guitar … If that doesn’t matter, my Roland E68 has a series of nylon guitar shades that should do the trick …

Les grandes vacances se terminent. Je n’ai encore aucune idée de ce que je vais faire en septembre, mais ce qui est certain c’est que la musique y aura encore beaucoup de place. Si je retrouve petit à petit ma voix, je suis toujours à la recherche d’une chanteuse pour écrire un titre pour l’émission Pour La Gloire.
Durant le camps de la Troupe de l’îlot, j’ai fait la rencontre de Anne et Julie qui aiment toutes les deux chanter et je me suis dit que ce serait une bonne idée de leur proposer un petit enregistrement studio. Je m’étais donc mis à écrire un musique typée slow non plus au départ des sons de mon synthé Roland, mais bien avec les sons un peu plus vintage du synthé du frère de Thierry Dubois, le guitariste de notre groupe de musique.
Le projet Anne et Lumière n’ira dès lors pas plus loin qu’une bande son instrumentale pour l’album Eyes Dreams, malgré les presque 50 pistes et effets stéréo intégrés dans ce brave Impulse Tracker. Si tout du moins je n’aurais jamais l’occasion de revoir Anne pour avancer sur ce projet, l’histoire avec « Lumière » sera un peu différente.
The summer holidays are over. I still have no idea what to do in September, but what is certain is that the music will still have plenty of room. If I gradually find my voice, I’m still looking for a singer to write a song for the show Pour La Gloire.
During the Troupe de l’îlot camp, I met Anne and Julie who both love to sing and I thought it would be a good idea to offer them a little studio recording. So I started writing slow-typed music, no longer with the sounds of my Roland synth, but with the slightly more vintage sounds of the synth of Thierry Dubois’ brother, the guitarist of our music group.
The Anne et Lumière project will therefore go no further than an instrumental soundtrack for the Eyes Dreams album, despite the almost 50 tracks and stereo effects integrated into this brave Impulse Tracker. If at least I would never have the opportunity to see Anne again to move forward on this project, the story with « Lumière » will be a little different.

Durant tout l’été, les déclinaisons à la CJ-Land, à la MAF se feront à toutes les sauces. Après avoir échantillonnés le synthétiseur GEM de mon ami Thierry et ces instruments d’accordéon particulièrement réussi, j’allais me lancer dans ce Nacordeon Story.

Et bien qu’importe, malgré une tête en moins, ce cher Cyborg Jeff se voulait vous en offrir plus ! C’était il y a 20 ans, je sortais d’une ablation de la thyroïde sous hypnose… non cela ne s’invente pas ! Cyborg Jeff, on lui a coupé la tête racontait alors les petits Worms de mon ami Valentin.
Club de Gymnastique – La Salamandre
Débordant d’enthousiasme à la découverte des compositions de Benoit ‘MAF’ Charcosset dans mon magasine PC TEAM, je me lançais à composer mon « CJ-Land » en exploitant les codes musicaux propres au Soundtracker français. Verra alors le jour ce « Play at CJ Land », un titre complètement dingue qui sera même pendant plusieurs années la bande son du Club de Gymnastique sérésien « La Salamandre » et qui fera même son retour dans la bande son du jeu Crazy Brix en 1999.
Avec sa gestion de béat et tempo complexe dans Impulse Tracker, le travail de remastering de ce titre n’aura pas été simple !

And although it does not matter, in spite of a head less, this dear Cyborg Jeff wanted to offer you more! It was 20 years ago, I was coming out of a thiroid ablation under hypnosis … no that can’t be invented! Cyborg Jeff, his head was cut off was telling my friend Valentin’s little Worms.
Overflowing with enthusiasm to discover the compositions of Benoit ‘MAF’ Charcosset in my PC TEAM magazine, I started to compose my « CJ-Land » by exploiting the musical codes specific to the French Soundtracker. « Play at CJ Land » will then see the light of day, a completely crazy title which will even be for several years the soundtrack of the Seresian Gymnastics Club « La Salamandre » and which will even make its return in the soundtrack of the game Crazy Brix in 1999. .
With its management of bliss and complex tempo in Impulse Tracker, the job of remastering this title will not have been easy !

Les mois passent depuis que j’ai composé Esperenza Theme qui a su toucher un public différent de mes créations électro habituelles. En moi résonne l’envie de raconter une nouvelle histoire similaire avec des notes et des instruments. Ma première année d’étude se termine à Louvain La Neuve, j’y vois un peu moins de monde et je passe plus de temps à fouiller les CDs de magasines PC Fun et PC Team à éplucher les oeuvres issues du monde de la Demoscène.
Les « Démos », sont des court métrages entièrement numériques, en temps réel, en 3D bien souvent mais surtout portées par une bande son qui repose sur la même technologie musicale que la mienne. Le vient à l’idée que j’aimerais créer ma Team, que j’aimerais faire partie de la création de ce genre d’oeuvre et c’est ainsi que petit à petit va naître Océanne 3D… Un composition à facette multiple qui aurait pu être un jour accompagnée d’une narration visuelle en 3D temps réel.
« Yeah ce soir on descend dans les fond marin de l’ocean… ses vagues, ses plages, ses mysteres……. Je dois bien vous avouer que la partie Coconut Beach me fait penser aux ambiance Monkey Island.. Océanne 3D se découpe donc en 7 scènes différentes ce qui est particulièrement audacieux pour l’époque et l’ensemble du morceau repose essentiellement sur de nouveaux échantillons issus de mon synthé Roland E68 auxquels j’ai notamment ajouté des sons de l’océan récupéré dans un album de musique Reiki que ma soeur écoutait tous les soirs pour s’endormir.
Enfin, Océanne 3D marquera mes « fans » de l’époque… et mes parents tout spécialement qui plus que probablement en ont fait ma composition préférée.
Au moment faire la sélection des musiques qui se retrouveraient dans l’album Eyes Dreams, Océanne 3D était évidemment une pièce maitresse. J’avais imaginé une temps réaliser un projet autour des 4 éléments, avec Fire et Océanne 3D, il me reste la Terre et le vent à composer, mais j’ai alors finalement fait le choix de créer la partie « Cyborgelis » au sein de l’album Eyes Dreams.

Months have passed till I’ve written Esperenza Theme. That song have found a special audience different that my usual electro creations. I heard in myself the envy to tell stories with the same way, with notes and instruments. My first year of learning Sounds in Louvain-La-Neuve was near to be finished. I saw less people and took more time to search inside my PC FUN and PC TEAM CDs to discover the Demoscene’s world.
Those Demos are like short numeric movies, played in 3D real time and most of the time linked to a great audio part written with the same music engine than the one I used. So, I had in mind to create my own team, working on such project and… then was born the project of Océanne 3D that should have been included in a 3D visual narration in real time.
Océanne 3D is cutted in 7 scenes a big deal for that time and all those parts was written around the new samples made out of my Roland E68 but also using some ocean ambient I’ve made out of Reiki Music CD that my sister often listen before to sleep.
Finally, the song received lot of congrats from the original fans and especially my parents for who it’s probably the favorite CJ’s song.
I remember that I had in mind during that period to write a song on all the four elements. Fire and Océanne 3D should have been the first one and I should have to work on air and earth… but I finally choose to add those two first song to the « Cyborgelis » part of Eyes Dreams in September 1998.

La réference : Sash! – Encore une fois
Je tourne en rond dans mon kot tout en cherchant l’inspiration plutôt qu’en me plongeant dans mes cours d’électronique et d’accoustique… Voilà bien une dizaine de jour que rien de très intéressant ne me vient à l’esprit et que j’expérimente d’autres styles.
Pourtant, ce qui me plait, c’est ce genre de Dance-Trance, ce sont les sons à la DJ Sash… Et voilà plus d’un mois que bloque sur ce « Work » qui héritera du n°14 et d’un titre franchement pas très inspiré… « Are you ready for techno ? »
J’avais pourtant réussi à force de triturer plusieurs instruments à approcher de ce pizzi à la sauce Sash, mais si mon gimmick ressemble trop à « Encore une fois ».
Le reste, sans être vilain, ne suis pas. On ne s’étonnera donc pas de ne pas voir apparaitre ce morceau sur le prochain album : Eyes Dreams qui sortira fin de l’été… Mais peut-être les meilleurs fans de Cyborg Jeff ressentiront-ils le bases de ce que sera « Speed-Di » ou « Message for a KLR’s cloud » ?

I go around in circles in my cabin while looking for inspiration rather than immersing myself in my electronics and acoustics lessons … It’s been ten days that nothing very interesting comes to mind and that I experiment with other styles.
However, what pleases me is this kind of Dance-Trance, it is the sounds à la DJ Sash … And it’s been more than a month that stuck on this « Work » which will inherit the n ° 14 and d ‘a title frankly not very inspired … « Are you ready for techno? »
I had however succeeded by dint of triturating several instruments to approach this pizzi with Sash sauce, but if my gimmick looks too much like « Again ».
The rest, without being naughty, are not. We will therefore not be surprised not to see this song appear on the next album: Eyes Dreams which will be released at the end of the summer … But perhaps the best fans of Cyborg Jeff will feel the basics of what will be « Speed-Di » or « Message for a KLR’s cloud »?

Oki Tbob, Pype et KLR. Désolé, aujourd’hui j’avais envie de me lancer sur un titre de Trancebrain. Ce n’est pas vraiment mon style préféré, c’est répétitif comme du Daftpunk, ce n’est pas mélodique pour un sous, donc si vous n’aimez pas… Passez à autre chose.
Et pourtant, ce morceau utilisant quelques nouveaux samples aura son succès auprès de D-Jafar et même les lecteurs de PC-Team !

Miek, c’est le petit nom que je donnais à ma soeur ! Si j’avais déjà eu l’occasion de lui composer une bande son pour ses compétitions de gymnastique, voilà déjà un moment qu’elle espérait que je lui prépare une chanson.
Je ressortais donc l’ensemble d’instruments samplés depuis mes différents synthétiseurs Roland et Yamaha comme je l’avais encore récemment pour la chanson écrite pour Carine.
Bien que ma soeur apprécie tout spécialement Céline Dion, Axelle Red ou encore Zazie, ce qui viendra à l’esprit est un peu plus énergique, sans pour autant être génial malgré ses 23 pistes actives.
D’ailleurs, encore une fois, je ne trouverais aucun texte, aucune parole vraiment intéressante à glisser à ce titre « Soi Cool ! »
Musicalement, il y a un petit quelques choses qui me faisait penser à la chanson « J’ai des doutes » de Sara Mandiano ou encore « Sur la route » de Gérard De Palmas. Ce qui a peut-être fini par me faire laisser tomber à poursuivre sur ce projet qui n’apparaitra que dans l’album privé « Soft Xmas ».

Miek, that’s the little name I gave to my sister! If I had ever had the opportunity to compose a soundtrack for her gymnastics competitions, she had been hoping for a while that I would prepare a song for her.
So I brought out the set of instruments sampled from my various Roland and Yamaha synthesizers as I had recently for the song written for Carine.
Although my sister especially appreciates Celine Dion, Axelle Red or Zazie, what will come to my mind is a little more energetic song, without being great despite its 23 active tracks.
Moreover, once again, I would not find any text, no really interesting words to slip in this title « Soi Cool! »
Musically, there is a little something that reminded me of the song « I have doubts » by Sara Mandiano or « Sur la route » by Gérard De Palmas. Which maybe ended up making me drop to continue on this project which will only appear in the private album « Soft Xmas ».

La journée se poursuivait donc. Après avoir tenté tant bien que mal de découvrir les nouveaux de ma nouvelle compilation « Vanoïd 4 », j’avais fini par me replonger dans mon soundtracker favori.
Wipe Out XL lorsque la 3DFX est activée
Oui, en effet, je pestais ce jour là sur l’obligation de faire tourner les nouveaux jeux-vidéo obligatoirement au sein de Windows 95 plutôt que ce bon vieux MS-DOS, d’autant que la plupart de ceux-ci demande l’utilisation de performance 3DFX et autres Voodoo… Et non, ma nouvelle S3 Virge était incapable de 3D en « haute définition », comprenez en 640×480 plutôt que 320×200 !
Si Fifa 98 et Man X TT Superbike sont plutôt moyens sur mon Cyrix 166 16mo de mémoire, Jet Moto et Worms 2 n’ont pas réussi à me convaincre. Quant à NBA Live 98, Wipe Out XL ou encore Tomb Raider II, ils sont complètement injouable… C’est finalement Quake II qui m’aura un peu occupé.
Bref, revenons à ce morceau dans un style très « house » / « new beat » du début des années 90 exploitant le célèbre « Dance 2 the house » du groupe Face the Bass. Si ce titre c’est un peu oublié en ne figurant sur aucun de mes albums de l’époque, il avait pourtant reçu un bon accueil auprès des auditeurs.
The day therefore continued. After trying to discover the news of my new game of my compilation « Vanoïd 4 », I ended up plunging back into my favorite soundtracker.
Yes, indeed, I was cursing that day about the obligation to run new video games obligatorily within Windows 95 rather than this good old MS-DOS, especially since most of these require the use of a 3DFX and other Voodoo graphic card … And no, my new S3 Virge was incapable of 3D in « high definition », understand in 640×480 rather than 320×200!
If Fifa 98 and Man X TT Superbike are rather average on my Cyrix 166 16mb of memory, Jet Moto and Worms 2 did not manage to convince me. As for NBA Live 98, Wipe Out XL or Tomb Raider II, they are completely unplayable … It is finally Quake II which will have me a little occupied.
Anyway, let’s come back to this song in a very « house » / « new beat » style from the early 90s using the famous « Dance 2 the house » of the group Face the Bass. If this title is a little forgotten by not appearing on any of my albums of the time, it had nevertheless received a good reception by the listeners.

Highway Hunter – PC (Safari Software, 1994)
Le temps est long, ici à Louvain-La-Neuve. Les cours se terminent et laissent place, en principe, à l’étude avant les examen. Mon colloc’ Didier n’est pas là depuis un bon moment, et je tourne un peu en rond. Je me lançais donc à quelques tentatives de créations de nouveaux mods, sans vraiment trouver l’inspiration avec ce titre « Speed Road » exploitant une série de samples d’un module de Purple Motion. Avec ce titre, j’imaginais ce morceau techno très rapide pour un jeu vidéo dans la lignée d’Highway Hunter de Safari Software qui m’avait marqué quelques mois plus tôt.
Time is long here in Louvain-La-Neuve. The courses end and leave place, in principle, for study time before the exams. My roommate ‘Didier hasn’t been here for a long time, and I’m turning around. So I launched myself into a few attempts to create new mods, without really finding inspiration, with this track « Speed Road » using a series of samples from a Purple Motion module. With this title, I imagined this very fast techno piece for a video game in the tradition of Safari Software’s Highway Hunter which had marked me a few months earlier.
